Budvar’s Krausened Lager Is Request Beer At GBBF

 


 Budweiser Budvar will be featuring its Krausened lager at the Great British Beer Festival this year thanks to some lobbying by beer writer Adrian Tierney Jones in his capacity as Secretary of the Guild of British Beer Writers.

Budweiser Budvar Reports Bumper Year

 

 

Figures issued by Budweiser Budvar show that sales increased faster in 2007 than the Czech market average in both domestic and export markets. In 2007 domestic sales reached 666,163 hl 11.7% more than the year before against a market growth of 0.5% whilst exports reached 586,885 hl. The highest volume achieved in the brewery’s history this represents a 5.7% year on year increase against the 1.6% increase achieved overall by  Czech beer exports.

Budvar Bucks The Nose Diving PPL Trend

With the PPL market continuing to nose dive, the 8.4% volume loss Nielsen recorded for the months of February and March now running at 9.8%, Budweiser Budvar UK reports that for the fifth period running the Czech brand has completely bucked this trend. According to Marketing Manager Ian Moss the brand has been consistently showing a par volume performance over “a period of unprecedented difficulty for the beer industry in general and PPL sector in particular”.

The purchase of AB, owners of Budweiser by InBev would only be relevant to Budweiser Budvar if the Czech Government divested itself of Budvar – and most commentators in the know on the Czech Political scene would tell you that this is still light years away. In fact if the InBev-AB deal does happen it would be likely to have the effect of swinging Czech public opinion even further behind growing demands to keep the Budweiser Budvar brewery safe in the hands of the Czech state.arrow

MA Budvar Brewed Jazz Hits A High Note At Cheltenham

  Newcomer to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival scene this year (April 29-May 5) was the MA’s Budvar Brewed Jazz programme to find the UK’s best pub jazz bands. Promoting pub-based talent at this major event in the calendar of jazzers world wide, the play off between the three finalist bands in the competition took place at Cheltenham’s Kandinsky  Hotel, one of the celebrated hang outs of  some of the world’s jazz greats.

One of Central Europe’s best known brewers, Josef Tolar, Brewmaster of the iconic Czech Budweiser Budvar Brewery, becomes the first brewer from this part of the world to be a member of the judging panel for the annual Champion Beer of Britain event held at the Great British Beer Festival.

Just another souvenir of a visit to the Budweiser Budvar brewery? Not on your life- this is a picture of a band of brothers (so to speak) celebrating completing a visit to the Budweiser Budvar brewery last Friday (April 11) in the face of almost impossible odds.
