Budweiser Budvar Reports Bumper Year

Budweiser Budvar Reports Bumper Year
June 2008

Figures issued by Budweiser Budvar show that sales increased faster in 2007 than the Czech market average in both domestic and export markets. In 2007 domestic sales reached 666,163 hl 11.7% more than the year before against a market growth of 0.5% whilst exports reached 586,885 hl. The highest volume achieved in the brewery’s history this represents a 5.7% year on year increase against the 1.6% increase achieved overall by  Czech beer exports.
The good news carries through to the bottom line. The brewery’s 2007 before tax profit showed a year on year increase by 13%, or 302 million CZK ( 1 GBP= 30.70 CZK). During the year the brewery invested 261 million CZK in items like racking lines and kegs and a much praised show piece beer-with-food restaurant complex in the brewery’s home town of Ceske Budejovice.
“A tough but positive year” was how 2007 was described by  Budvar’s  CEO, Jiri Bocek. (ends)
