The core of Budweiser Budvar's technical services operation in the UK is devoted to the installation and maintenance of draught dispense facilities nation wide. A best practice advisory service is also offered as well as an educational programme instructing retailers and their staff on how to serve a perfect Budweiser Budvar beer. Known as Budweiser Budvar's "Keeping A Head" program this has proved immensely popular. The programme starts in the cellar then describes flow cooling to get the optimal serving temperature of 3 to 5°C, with basic cellar management and pipe maintenance tips and then concentrates on perfecting the perfect pour.
Budvar has succeeded in adding glamour to that most mundane of products, the keg. The brewery's distinctive keg, designed by head brewer, Josef Tolar, is a light weight stainless steel shell covered in a black rubber and plastic material emblazoned with the Budweiser Budvar logo in red. The design not only helps maintain the integrity of the beer during transit and in the cellar it also makes for a keg that doesn't get stolen. For one thing it's too distinctive and, for another the plastic and rubber coating make it an unattractive proposition to chop up.
