Bring Out The Crowds At Cheltenham

A packed audience of jazz enthusiasts turned out for the play off of the fourth annual Budvar Brewed Jazz event held at the Budvar sponsored Cheltenham Jazz Festival this weekend It was unanimously agreed that the event, to spot some of the best up and coming talent in the UK’s pubs, was like the festival itself, one of the best yet. No doubt the opinion of the enthusiastic jazzers attending from all over Europe was due in part to Mediterranean style weather and seductive quantities of Budvar. Indeed Budvar’s man in the West Country, Steve Cosgrove, reports that a second tranche of Budvar had to be rushed to the scene of the festivities on Saturday night so great was the demand. The final play off between the three finalist groups held on Cheltenham’s Budvar stage was described by festival artistic director, Tony Dudley Evans, as “the closet run thing you could imagine”. This year’s winner was a trio, Infusion. The Draft House Declares For Budvar

To celebrate his decision to make Budvar the lager of his Draft House pub group Charlie Mcveigh invited Budvar UK Sales Director Joe Laventure to a “summit” meeting at his Tower Bridge Draft House from where he told Laventure he could possibly see the site of what will be the first Draft House North of the River. Unfortunately smog blocked the view and in any event, as the picture hints, Laventure is a man who likes to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

After a year long evaluation of different lagers the decision to go with Budvar puts in place, says Mcveigh., another important building block in the Draft House mission to become the Local of choice for the capital’s young professionals.

The Mcveigh search for the Draft House lager has been a Pan-European affair very much influenced by the strong food element in the Draft House vision that arises from his former life as a restaurateur. Mcveigh said that in the end Budvar not only ticked all the boxes as a drink but was an excellent match with a wide variety of food as well.

Budvar’s Packaged Sales In London Storm Ahead

On trade sales of packaged Budvar in London stormed ahead in the last quarter showing a stunning increase of 101.6% according to CGA Data figures which show total packaged lager growth for the area as 4.7%. This is due, according to Budvar’s Marketing Controller Ian Moss, to a mini “shock and awe” campaign run by the company in the inner London area.
